Seventeen-year-old Audra is a sylph, an air elemental. She walks on the wind, can translate its alluring songs, and can even coax it into a weapon with a simple string of commands. She’s also a guardian—Vane’s guardian—and has sworn an oath to protect Vane at all costs. Even if it means sacrificing her own life.

When a hasty mistake reveals their location to the enemy who murdered both of their families, Audra’s forced to help Vane remember who he is. He has a power to claim—the secret language of the West Wind, which only he can understand. But unlocking his heritage will also unlock the memory Audra needs him to forget. And their greatest danger is not the warriors coming to destroy them—but the forbidden romance that’s grown between them.

The Elliott Review:

This book blew my mind out of the water to the point that even days later I'm not sure I can form coherent sentences to even say what I'm thinking. I would have started rereading it again immediately if I didn't have to send it out to the next person on the tour. So pardon me while I pick my fan girl jaw up off the floor and try not to embarrass myself too much.

First of all, the very first chapter pulled me in and let me know that I was in the safe hands of an extremely capable writer. Shannon Messenger's flawless, fluid writing throughout the entire story Fluid writing leaves you breathless. As I discovered more about what Audra is and how Vane is involved in her world, I was completely sucked in and could not stop reading.

Which brings me to the fact that I now have three favorite YA guys instead of two. Vane joins Jace and Four to form the trio of awesome. I was just blown away by all the pieces of him - his sarcasm, his sweetness, his bravery... I want to say so much more but don't really want to give away anything for anyone.

The suspense and tension in this book is also off the charts, probably the reason why I read this book so fast and nearly died. I'm in love, I'm in love, and I don't care who knows it. I really feel like this review does no justice to how amazing this book is. There are just some books I love so much that my reviews for them really suck...

  1. I know how hard it is to find the right words to describe a book you love. This book sounds great! I love it when a book can suck you into the story.
